Creating User Roles

This feature is currently in beta and may not be live for all users.

User roles can only be created for Solo Studio permissions. To learn more about existing user roles (for core Solo functionality access), please see this article

In this article:

What is a User Role?

A user role is a collection of permissions that can be assigned to users to easily manage permissions for groups of users. For each user role, you can control which permissions are associated and which users are assigned to that role.

If access is restricted or given through a role, that will override any company default set for that permission. However, specific user overrides will override role permissions. Here is the permission hieiarchy:

This is different from a user's primary and additional role(s). Please see this article for more information.

Creating User Roles

The Permissions portal is only accessible to users with the SAAS Owner user role.

To create a user role, follow these steps:

  4. For each permission, update the 'State' to reflect the access you'd like users with this role to have. Remember:
    1. On - Users with this role will have access to this feature, unless a specific user override is applied.
    2. Off - Users with this role will NOT have access to this feature, unless a specific user override is applied.
    3. Inherit - Users with this role will refer to the permission's company default for access.
