How the Proposal's Offset is Calculated
Solar Offset
The Solar Offset is a calculation of how much of the customer's usage is being covered by the production of the solar system. This is represented as a pie chart on the Analysis page of the proposal:

This is calculated by using this equation:
(Estimated Yearly Production ÷ Annual Usage) x 100 = Solar Offset
Example: If the customer's estimated yearly production is 9,155 kWh and their annual usage is 12,005 kWh. Plugging this into the equation, we get this:
(9,155 ÷ 12,005) x 100 ≈ 76.26 ≈ 76% offset
Utility Bill Offset
When viewing the proposal's detailed utility information, you'll see a Bill Offset. This represents how much of their current utility bill will be offset by the new bill/new system.

This is calculated using this equation:
((Current Utility Bill - New Utility Bill) ÷ Current Utility Bill) x 100 = Bill Offset
Example: in the image above, the current utility bill is $108 and the new utility bill is $52. Plugged into the equation looks like this:
((108 - 52) ÷ 108) x 100 =
(56 ÷ 108) x 100 =
0.5185 x 100 ≈ 56% bill offset
