About Loan / Dealer Fees

  • 5 mths ago

Loan fees are not added until the Analysis is run. Loan fees are tacked on to your solution's retail price defined on the Price screen.

SolarNexus excludes loan fees from the rest of the pricing stack because it is NOT an amount that you actually realize in revenue. It is ONLY an amount that increases the loan principal. If it were considered a part of your price stack, it could have significant negative consequences for your business. For example, if you pay a commission based on a percentage, that commission would go up with the higher price, but that's revenue that your company never sees. You'd be paying commission on money that the finance company makes! And if your state requires paying sales tax on the total amount, then you'd be paying sales tax on revenue that you didn't make!

We've routinely heard contractors ask about using percentage based discounts in the context of providing a "cash discount" compared to a financed price where a loan program often includes a significant "dealer fee." We strongly discourage any incorporation of discounts for paying cash because of the nature of the loan fee not being part of your company's revenue. If you find that presenting "cash discounts" is compelling, a SolarNexus proposal can present the financed price as your price with the loan fee represented as the "discount".
