What if customer has multiple meters?

  • 2 mths ago

A relatively small minority of customers have multiple electric meters, each with their own tariff. Each one has its own kWh usage and load profile.

SolarNexus ONLY supports the input and analysis of a single customer load profile and one electric tariff for the customer's current electric service and one for the customer's proposed electric service after project installation.

Some utilities will allow aggregation of meter usage. In this case you can simply add up the usage across your meters and input as a single usage amount. You will have a single tariff in this case.

If your customer has meters with different tariff rates, SolarNexus cannot support that case. Consider whether it makes sense for your PV system to be connected to only one of the customer's electric services - in some cases, there is a single service that provides most of the customer's usage anyway, and greatly simplifies the work to interconnect the system anyway (lowers administrative complexity and cost).

NOTE - Support for input of individual meter amounts and evaluation of the meter aggregation case is on the future SolarNexus feature roadmap.
