How do I configure the default incentives for storage systems?

  • updated 2 mths ago

As of 2018, most PV-coupled residential storage systems installed in the US are eligible for the Federal ITC, so you will likely want to set up SolarNexus to apply the Federal ITC to residential storage systems by default.

Some states and localities have additional storage rebates that you might also want to apply by default. For example, in California, as of 2018, the SGIP rebate applies to most PV-coupled residential storage systems.

To configure these incentives to apply by default, go to Administration > Project Settings > Analysis Parameters and do the following:

  1. In the box below Federal Solar Investment Tax Credit in the Residential column, add Storage System as an eligible service type. This will ensure the Federal ITC is applied to storage systems by default when you analyze solutions.
  2. If you have a state or local storage incentive, click Add Incentive and select the incentive. Make sure Storage System is selected in the eligible service type box below. (SolarNexus has pre-defined some of the current state and local storage incentives, but if you don't see the one you need, you can either define it yourself under Administration > Incentives or request SolarNexus to add it. Learn more here.)
  3. Click Save.

This is how it might look:

Once you configure your default storage incentives, you should see the default incentives listed in the Analysis Parameters for all new analyses.

If you need to modify the rate or other settings for a default incentive on a particular project, or need to remove a default incentive, click the Incentives section to edit the settings and make any updates as needed.

Note: Any solutions first analyzed prior to changing the default incentives will NOT automatically get the new default settings when you re-analyze those solutions. But you can click Reset Default Incentives (see screenshot above) to pick up the new default incentives before re-analyzing.
