What is a DXF File?
A DXF file (drawing exchange format) is a vector file format used to share both 2D and 3D drawings. Essentially, a DXF file represents data as lines, which is why they are so useful for modeling homes and solar systems. They are primarily used by engineers, architects, and product designers.
DXF files are used to facilitate easy data exchanges between different CAD programs (CoreIDRAW, AutoCAD, etc.). In Solo’s case, customers can download a full design of a home, provide it to their engineering teams, and complete designs that can then be used for engineering permit packets.
